This is a key question that is asked too often. Plenty of <a href=\"http:\/\/lingamish.wordpress.com\/2008\/04\/23\/thats-not-to-say-that-i-dont-suppose-that-they-might-not-be-right\/#comment-23265\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">intelligent people<\/a> are creationists, and a not-insignificant number of those are young-earth creationists or proponents of intelligent design. Treating people as though they are stupid rarely helps the educational process. Many people are misinformed or uninformed, or even self-deluded, when it comes to these matters. But if one wants to deal with <em>those<\/em> issues, then one needs to begin with an accurate diagnosis of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Jim West notes a <a href=\"http:\/\/jwest.wordpress.com\/2008\/04\/23\/another-dilettantish-effort-to-spin-the-jesus-story\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">new Jesus film<\/a> building on the old \u201cMary was raped by a Roman soldier named Pantera\u201d tradition. I\u2019ve published an <a href=\"http:\/\/exploringourmatrix.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/jesus-illegitimacy-and-gospels.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">article<\/a> in the <em>Journal for the Study of the Historical Jesus<\/em> about why I find that historically implausible. But in terms of making a <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/nm\/verhoeven_dc;_ylt=A0WTcWFvJQ9I6dgAyxSs0NUE\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">fictional movie<\/a>, it has great potential. I hope they\u2019ll include a scene where a young Jesus decides to vent his community\u2019s frustration against the Romans by attacking a soldier stationed locally. As Jesus struggles with him, and manages to get hold of his sword, Mary pushes through the crowd and shouts \u201cJesus, don\u2019t!\u2026He\u2019s your <em>father<\/em>!\u201d For another fictional depiction of Jesus, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.philipharland.com\/Blog\/2008\/04\/22\/jesus-said-youre-all-evil-there-is-no-hope-thank-you\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">try here<\/a>. Or <a href=\"http:\/\/faith-theology.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/management-theory.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>C. Orthodoxy has a <a href=\"http:\/\/c-orthodoxy.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/is-morality-relative-absolute-or.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">response to my blog entry about moral absolutism and relativism<\/a>.
