When I posted in the past about the cube shape of the New Jerusalem in the Book of Revelation<\/a>, which reminds Star Trek fans of a Borg cube, I didn\u2019t come up with anything nearly as good as this mash-up of Bible and Trek by Jeff Carter<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\"AssimilatedThen one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, \u201cCome, I will show you something.\u201d And in the spirit he carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the Holy City Jerusalem coming down out of interstellar space.<\/p>\n

The angel who talked to me had a measuring rod of god to measure the city.\u00a0 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width; its length and width and height are also equal. A perfect cube capable of both warp and transwarp velocities.<\/p>\n

And the city was surrounded by a subspace field, an adaptive and regenerating force shield that none could penetrate. The city was armed with both beam and projectile weaponry, cutting beams and magnetometric guided charges, missiles and tractor beams.<\/p>\n

The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it and assimilated. But nothing unclean will be assimilated.<\/p>\n

The city in Revelation is simply cube shaped. If it reminds one of a particular sort of cube, and especially one from a sci-fi franchise, that illustrates well how our interpretation of ancient texts cannot escape the influence of our contemporary ideas, assumptions, perspectives, and of course also literature, television, and film.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
