Also, an article in <em>Discover<\/em> apparently makes progress on a big question some of us have: <a href=\"http:\/\/3quarksdaily.blogs.com\/3quarksdaily\/2007\/11\/why-arent-you-b.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">if evolution is true, why am I not more handsome<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Tim Jones at <a href=\"http:\/\/remotecentral.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/astronomers-observations-shortening.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">remote central<\/a> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/remotecentral.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/astronomers-observations-shortening.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">post<\/a> about a forthcoming paper by Lawrence Krauss and James Dent that discusses the implications of dark energy for the fate of the universe. Some had apparently understood him to be claiming that observing the universe not only collapses the wave function in the quantum realm, but may actually shorten its lifespan. He denies this, and says that the forthcoming paper is simply about the implications of what has been observed, and not a causal effect of observation. In other astronomy news, a star cluster has been observed moving through the galaxy at inexplicably fast speed, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/space.newscientist.com\/article\/dn12974-star-clusters-extreme-speed-puzzles-astronomers.html?feedId=online-news_rss20\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an article in NewScientist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.episcopalcafe.com\/lead\/interfaith\/letter_by_christians_noted_in.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Lead<\/a> tells about a letter from Muslim scholars to Christians and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yale.edu\/faith\/abou-commonword.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">a letter written by Christian scholars in reply<\/a>. ThinkChristian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkchristian.net\/index.php\/2007\/11\/27\/how-much-do-you-spend-a-week-on-food\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">shares a link to a provocative photo comparison<\/a> of what people in different societies spend on food, and eat, each week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/badidea.wordpress.com\/2007\/11\/27\/the-war-on-christmas-and-on-the-golden-compass\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Bad Idea Blog<\/a> responds to <a href=\"http:\/\/aguyinthepew.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/christmas-wars.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">A Guy In The Pew<\/a> about the \u2018war on Christmas\u2019. Apparently there is war over the war on Christmas. I will not comment, lest I start a war about the war over the war on Christmas. Millinerd shares <a href=\"http:\/\/millinerd.com\/2007\/11\/handicap.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an excerpt from The New Republic on egotism in religion and atheism<\/a>.
