<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Doctor-Who-Adventure-Space-Blu-ray\/dp\/B00ISSF7S6\/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&linkCode=li2&tag=jamefmcgrshom-20&linkId=2148a843f519d38610d86272cc65b953\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B00ISSF7S6&Format=_SL160_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=jamefmcgrshom-20\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"https:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=jamefmcgrshom-20&l=li2&o=1&a=B00ISSF7S6\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\">I am overdue to share the trailer for this year\u2019s\u00a0Doctor Who Christmas Special, which will have the title <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/blogs\/doctorwho\/entries\/d5f4af62-4c52-496e-a1ad-44647b6400f5\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cTwice Upon a Time.\u201d<\/a> I am very disappointed that it doesn\u2019t seem to continue the running gag in which\u00a0an earlier Doctor steps into the different TARDIS control room and says, \u201cOh, you\u2019ve redecorated! I don\u2019t like it.\u201d But I am excited to see what happens when the show brings back the First Doctor. I didn\u2019t find the performance by Richard Hurndall in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2012\/01\/doctor-who-the-five-doctors.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">The Five Doctors<\/a> entirely compelling \u2013 at least not with hindsight, once I had seen episodes with William Hartnell in the role. Having discovered the show in the Peter Davison era, I am among those who didn\u2019t see early episodes until relatively late. On the other hand, I thought that David Bradley did an incredible job not only of being the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2013\/11\/an-adventure-in-time-and-space.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">First Doctor<\/a>, but also of being William Hartnell, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2013\/11\/an-adventure-in-time-and-space-2.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cAn Adventure in Time and Space.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0I can\u2019t believe that I never reviewed that special more fully, given how powerful and moving I found it. But it did air during AAR\/SBL, and so I struggled to find a way to watch it and the 50th anniversary episode, never mind blogging about either of them. I wonder whether an older post has been truncated, or that is really all I wrote. Either way, <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2i5rhEu\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">I highly recommend that recreation of the show\u2019s beginnings and the people involved with it<\/a>. And as some of you may recall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2017\/06\/regenerating-doctor-times-two.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">I predicted that the exit of Peter Capaldi would involve an encounter with his original self<\/a>. And so I am understandably\u00a0<em>very<\/em> curious to see whether some other details of my speculations were even close to being on target.
