These illustrate the vibrancy of many scientific fields, including evolutionary biology.<\/p>\n<p>In discussions on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncommondescent.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Uncommon Descent blog<\/a>, on the other hand (where it was <a href=\"http:\/\/pandasthumb.org\/archives\/2007\/09\/dembski-and-com.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">refreshing<\/a> to have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncommondescent.com\/intelligent-design\/the-emerging-complexity-of-the-genome\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">William Dembski himself acknowledge up front that he does <em>not <\/em>believe in common descent<\/a>), there is a close-knit community of people who <a href=\"http:\/\/post-darwinist.blogspot.com\/2008\/02\/another-ex-dhimmi-for-darwin.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">declare<\/a> that evolution is a dead field, even if most of those working in it refuse to admit it.<\/p>\n<p>I was struck to find out that such <a href=\"http:\/\/home.entouch.net\/dmd\/moreandmore.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">claims of evolution\u2019s imminent demise have been around a long time \u2013 a <em>really<\/em> long time<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/home.entouch.net\/dmd\/moreandmore.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">One web site<\/a> provides <a href=\"http:\/\/home.entouch.net\/dmd\/moreandmore.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">quotes making such claims going back to 1825<\/a>! Yes, that is right \u2013 even <em>before<\/em> Darwin offered an explanation of a key mechanism driving evolution in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacred-texts.com\/aor\/darwin\/origin\/index.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Origin Of Species<\/a><\/em>, there were people proclaiming it was a dead-end avenue of investigation. For critics to say such things then may not be all that surprising \u2013 but for anyone to still be saying it certainly <em>is<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, some Christians have had not problem maintaining that something is still going to happen \u201csoon\u201d 2,000 years later, and so these claims of evolution\u2019s imminent demise could well persist for many more millennia.
