In an earlier post<\/a> I mentioned the intriguing interpretation of the phrase \u201cLet us make humanity in our image\u201d in Genesis 1:26 as God addressing the animals and saying, in effect, \u201cLet\u2019s collaborate and make something that is in the image of both the animal and God.\u201d I got hold of a copy of Friedman\u2019s Commentary on the Torah<\/em>, to which Indulis Paics had attributed the interpretation, and failed to find it there. So until I hear otherwise, I will be crediting Rev. Paics himself with this interpretation.<\/p>\n

On a related note, let me mention a book of \u201cparables<\/a>\u201d by one of the other pastors at Martin Luther Church in Riga, Latvia. Juris Rubenis\u2019<\/a> books are well known in Latvia<\/a>\"\", but not so much outside. My colleague Paul Valliere<\/a> recently translated some of Rubenis\u2019 writings, which are now available in English for the first time<\/a>. The volume is entitled Finding God in a Tangled World: Thoughts and Parables<\/a>\"\".<\/p>\n
