I had heard about the project from Paul Givargidze, and was and remain excited about the fact that Mandaeans can and are encouraged to participate. (See <a href=\"http:\/\/works.bepress.com\/jamesmcgrath\/46\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">my article on the Miriai story and Mandaean origins, forthcoming in <i>ARAM Periodical<\/i> and already available online<\/a>, for my perspective on why DNA testing may not tell us everything we\u2019d like to know about the historical origins of the Mandaeans).<\/p>\n<p>The disappointing one was the mention on the blog <a href=\"http:\/\/amirmideast.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/open-access-manuscript-collections.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Access to Mideast and Islamic Resources<\/a> of digitized open access manuscripts at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/daten.digitale-sammlungen.de\/~db\/ausgaben\/gesamt_ausgabe.html?projekt=1237542643&amp;recherche=ja&amp;ordnung=sig\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">M\u00fcnchener Digitalisierungszentrum (MDZ)<\/a>.
