When I had the surge in hits today, I suspected that it was simply someone eager to be the person responsible for the one millionth hit<\/a>, since I had offered to announce who it was on the blog. But since no one has contacted me to say that it was them, I am beginning to suspect that something more sinister is afoot.<\/p>\n

Could it be that Jim West, fearful that my plan to challenge his status as undefeated champion of the biblioblog rankings might come to fruition, is plotting to bring about my downfall?<\/p>\n

Perhaps he paid someone to keep clicking on my site, and plans, should my ranking this month be higher than before and a threat to his status, to then produce the receipt (presumably with no evidence on it tying it to himself) and suggest that I \u2018bought my way to the top.\u2019 Then, disgraced, I would not only have no choice but to forfeit my ranking, but would never be allowed to compete again.<\/p>\n

Only someone who is more than a dilettante in the study of total depravity could have hatched such a scheme.<\/p>\n

But my suspicions have been raised, and I will be on my guard. And so it may be that, as the prophet Jim Linville and his school of prophetic cats have predicted<\/a>, it will in fact be Jim West\u2019s fall that is brought about by these unfolding machinations, rather than my own.<\/p>\n

I would have shared Jim Linville\u2019s very cool LOLcats picture illustrating the fall of Jim West to earth, but alas, sinister forces seem to have made it vanish. Is anything or anyone in the biblioblogosphere safe?! Anyway, the one below will have to do in its place, for now\u2026<\/p>\n
