It is obvious to everyone, presumably including those who appeal to this text, that this is applied selectively \u2013 Obama was criticized left, right and center, while Trump is defended.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sojo.net\/articles\/misusing-romans-13-embrace-theocracy\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Stephen Mattson wrote for\u00a0<em>Sojourners<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Partisans use Romans 13 to baptize their politics as being \u201cordained by God.\u201d But Christians who reference Romans 13 typically do so using an us vs. government relationship. But unlike the first century when Roman rulers were mainly determined by heredity, lineage, or brute force, today we\u00a0<em>are<\/em>\u00a0the government.
