It is supposed to be a response to a post of mine about the Ark Park, but in actual fact it does nothing other than mention side issues (the shape of the ark, for instance) and repeat misinformation (the fossil record, he claims, is compatible with a global flood \u2013 which it would not be even if plants could run, which they cannot).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skeptic.com\/doubtful-news\/kentucky-on-track-to-be-the-state-with-poor-higher-education-but-a-big-bible-theme-park\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Skepticcom+%28Skeptic.com%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">news is circulating<\/a> that <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/pharyngula\/2012\/01\/kentucky_has_nothing_to_compla.php?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+scienceblogs%2Fpharyngula+%28Pharyngula%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kentucky\u2019s budget provides tax breaks for the Ark Park by cutting funding in education<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/friendlyatheist\/2012\/01\/21\/kentuckys-governor-wants-citizens-to-get-less-educated\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">and so the state is doing double damage to education<\/a>. This led <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/friendlyatheist\/2012\/01\/21\/a-new-slogan-for-the-ark-park\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Hemant Mehta to make this cartoon<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/friendlyatheist\/files\/2012\/01\/ArkPark.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"445\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thechurchofjesuschrist.us\/2012\/01\/ken-ham-to-get-11-million-from-kentucky-higher-ed-public-sector-loses\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheChurchOfJesusChrist+%28The+Church+of+Jesus+Christ%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Joel Watts discusses that and a number of other topics related to Genesis 1 and evolution<\/a>, including <a href=\"http:\/\/thechurchofjesuschrist.us\/2012\/01\/when-does-it-become-anti-semitic-to-treat-genesis-1-as-a-western-style-history\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheChurchOfJesusChrist+%28The+Church+of+Jesus+Christ%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">whether reading Genesis as Western-style history is antisemitic<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/peterenns\/2012\/01\/once-more-with-feeling-adam-evolution-and-evangelicals\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Enns<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/pete-enns\/adam-evolution-and-evangelicals_b_1219124.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote an article for the Huffington Post on the fact that the issue for Evangelicals regarding evolution is their mistaken expectations about the Bible<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/slacktivist\/2012\/01\/21\/creationism-chases-people-out-of-church\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Fred Clark discusses how Ken Ham and others like him are driving people away from Christianity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is a great video about some misconceptions about evolution:<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vss1VKN2rf8\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vss1VKN2rf8<\/a>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/scienceandcreation.blogspot.com\/2012\/01\/missouri-house-bill-no-1227-invisible.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jim Kidder posted about antievolution legislation in Missouri<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.indystar.com\/letters\/2012\/01\/20\/my-view-inform-yourself-about-creation-theories\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">there has been some discussion in various places of my op-ed piece about the proposed legislation in Indiana<\/a>. Also, <a href=\"http:\/\/questioninganswersingenesis.blogspot.com\/2012\/01\/creationism-climate-change-and-ncse.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the NCSE has begun to focus more attention on climate change in addition to evolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/davefitzgerald.blogspot.com\/2012\/01\/nailed-completely-brilliant-or-tragic.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Also about something not entirely unlike creationism is David Fitzgerald\u2019s attempt to defend his book <em>Nailed<\/em><\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/davefitzgerald.blogspot.com\/2011\/01\/dialogue-with-dr-james-mcgrath-part-ii.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">He<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/davefitzgerald.blogspot.com\/2011\/01\/response-to-dr-james-mcgrath.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">and I<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2011\/01\/david-fitzgerald-on-the-existence-of-jesus.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">have had<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2011\/01\/jesus-now-with-fewer-miracles-dialogue-with-david-fitzgerald-part-2.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">previous<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2011\/01\/responding-to-david-fitzgerald.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">discussions<\/a> about the <a href=\"http:\/\/vridar.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/24\/david-fitzgerald-responds-to-tim-oneills-review-of-nailed\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">subject<\/a>, and his post didn\u2019t change my impression. He continues to approach the matter in the manner of an apologist, not a historian. It remains unlikely that Josephus invented the entire Testimonium Flavianum, and that Christians writing in Syriac and Arabic quoted it from memory managing to conveniently forget precisely those details suspected of being Christian additions.
