{"id":64584,"date":"2019-06-13T04:57:20","date_gmt":"2019-06-13T08:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/admin.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/?p=64584"},"modified":"2019-06-11T16:18:26","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T20:18:26","slug":"gods-grandchildren","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/religionprof\/2019\/06\/gods-grandchildren.html","title":{"rendered":"God&#8217;s Grandchildren"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>I watched most of <a href=\"https:\/\/rachelheldevans.com\/funeral\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rachel Held Evans\u2019 funeral<\/a> as it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=1&amp;v=XyoxUwdSnzA\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">made available on YouTube<\/a>, and I found some thoughts her sister shared to be inspiring, but also challenging to a common trope in Evangelicalism which says \u201cGod has no grandchildren.\u201d I\u2019ve repeated that saying, I think, on more than one occasion. In that context, I\u2019ll plan to say more about <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2F2C0HQ\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rachel\u2019s incredible book\u00a0<em>Inspired<\/em><\/a> which I just finished listening to recently, and which I highly recommend. It is every bit as good as her previous books, if not indeed her best yet, which sadly means her best ever.
