<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another interview on this topic, in which he discusses (among other things) the search for the sacred in modern music, and the capacity of music to explore the mysterious without and beyond words, setting music apart even from other arts in the sense to which it transcends and is separate from the \u201cthingness\u201d of everything else in our world:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sir James Macmillan: Scotland's Great Composer on his Influences: Faith, Heritage & Tradition\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/raN8anjgsTM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In an era in which there tends to be an enormous gulf between \u201cworld-famous musician\u201d and \u201cchurch musician,\u201d it is really striking and impressive to see this world-renowned composer, who wrote music for the visit of the Pope, also writing for weekly use in his own church.<\/p>\n<p>Some of his famous works are sacred music, such as his St. Luke\u2019s Passion and St. John\u2019s Passion.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NYPL NYChoral St Luke's Passion Symposium\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iRVq0tRv4LM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Also about religious music, the <a href=\"https:\/\/progressivechristianity.org\/resources\/forward-faith-a-blog-of-music-and-ideas-for-a-progressive-faith\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Progressive Christianity website<\/a> shared a link to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forwardfaith.org\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a blog called Forward Faith<\/a> which is dedicated to progressive Christian music.
