Founded in 1348, it combines the best of Cambridge tradition with twenty-first-century teaching and research.<\/p>\n<p>Caius\u2019 beautiful Old Courts are located right in the heart of Cambridge. The College is home to an academic community of around 780 undergraduate and postgraduate students, together with 110 Fellows and almost 200 staff.<\/p>\n<p>Gonville\u00a0&amp; Caius College invites applications for research in one of the following fields:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biblical studies, including\u00a0Rabbinics\u00a0and\u00a0Patristics<\/li>\n<li>The comparative study of religion<\/li>\n<li>Ancient Eastern languages and literature<\/li>\n<li>The History and Social Anthropology of Asian Especially Near and Middle Eastern Societies Before the Advent of Industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Bye-Fellowship is a limited-term appointment for the purpose of carrying out some specific research project, free of other commitments.\u00a0 This one-year position is open to established researchers, including those on leave or on secondment from university posts.\u00a0 The successful candidate will normally have produced significant published work. \u00a0Research students who have not been approved for a PhD at the date of application are not eligible. The Bye-Fellowship is tenable from 1 October 2020 (or such other date as may be agreed with the successful candidate).<\/p>\n<p>The post cannot be held in conjunction with any other appointment or award, but a limited amount of paid College teaching, and occasional lecturing and examining are normally allowed.<\/p>\n<p>The Bye-Fellowship comes with a possible stipend of up to \u00a330,000.\u00a0 Up to ten free meals per week in College will also be provided.\u00a0 The College offers free or\u00a0subsidised\u00a0accommodation (some of it suitable for double occupancy).\u00a0 The Bye-Fellow is expected to reside in Cambridge, but research trips may be permitted.\u00a0 The funds may be used to supplement an existing salary, pay pension contributions, or as a research grant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The final date for applications is 24 February 2020.
