He starts the post with this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>When my wife started to watch the show, she had expectations for many of the memes to appear in the actual episodes. She assumed that the dialogue in these memes was based, at least loosely, on actual things in the official show. Much to her surprise, almost everything she had already learned was entirely apocryphal.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That is so much like what happens with the Bible, such a great analogy.<\/p>\n<p>I just finished (or at least, I hope I\u2019ve finished) making revisions to a chapter I wrote about Star Wars and canon, and so this topic is very much on my mind.<\/p>\n<p>Of related interest, IO9 had news about <a href=\"https:\/\/io9.gizmodo.com\/our-fascination-with-canon-is-killing-the-way-we-value-1842590915\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">our fascination with canon and a possible negative impact thereof<\/a>\u00a0(which I recommend reading with the Bible rather than Star Wars in view if you\u2019re interested in the former rather than the latter), <a href=\"https:\/\/io9.gizmodo.com\/star-wars-day-brings-the-end-of-the-clone-wars-and-a-fr-1842878814\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the promise of a Mandalorian documentary<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/a-very-close-look-inside-the-mandalorians-ship-1842767799\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a detailed look at the Mandalorian\u2019s ship<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/sanctushieronymus.blogspot.com\/2020\/04\/the-origins-of-use-of-term-canon-to.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">On the use of canon in the textual sense, see this post by Ed Gallagher<\/a>.
