The news is breaking<\/a> that Ray Bradbury passed away this morning<\/a>. It is poignant that Bradbury<\/a> had a short article\u00a0published in The New Yorker<\/em><\/a> just days before his<\/a> death<\/a> today, June 6th, 2012, at the age of 91<\/a>, which bore the title \u201cTake Me Home.\u201d The article is about the inspiration for one of my favorite Bradbury stories, \u201cThe Fire Balloons,\u201d<\/a> which appeared in some editions of\u00a0The Illustrated Man<\/em> and of The Martian Chronicles<\/a>\"\"<\/em>. It explores the intersection of religion and science fiction<\/a>\"\", as a priest from Earth seeks to evangelize alien entities on Mars, only to discover that he has things to learn from them.<\/p>\n
