The article is poorly written and poorly researched in many respects. it seems to suggest that the Bible teaches that Jesus is God, and the wording is clunky and unclear at times. But the shift in public opinion that the article draws attention to is rather remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>Next, Randal Rauser tweeted about mythicism:<\/p>\n<hr>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Imagine that only about five professional historians believed Jesus actually existed and those five historians also happened to be highly activist Christian apologists. Would anyone take them seriously? That's precisely the current situation with Jesus Mythicism.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Tentative Apologist (@RandalRauser) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RandalRauser\/status\/1296485309010661378?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">August 20, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/randalrauser.com\/2020\/08\/the-absurdity-of-jesus-mythicism-in-five-minutes\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">his blog post \u201cThe Absurdity of Jesus Mythicism in Five Minutes\u201d<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/randalrauser.com\/2020\/08\/are-biblical-scholars-constrained-by-the-doctrinal-statements\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">another that relates to a common accusation of mythicists, on whether biblical scholars are constrained by institutional doctrinal statements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Craig Keener likewise shared some thoughts on Jesus mythicism: <a href=\"https:\/\/craigkeener.com\/on-the-existence-of-jesus-and-against-mythicism-part-one\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Part One<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/craigkeener.com\/on-the-existence-of-jesus-and-against-mythicism-part-two\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Part Two<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Philippians 2:6-11:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"PPVmRV20W1\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/readingacts.com\/2020\/07\/28\/book-review-patrick-schreiner-the-ascension-of-christ-recovering-a-neglected-doctrine\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Book Review: Patrick Schreiner, The Ascension of Christ: Recovering a Neglected Doctrine<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cBook Review: Patrick Schreiner, The Ascension of Christ: Recovering a Neglected Doctrine\u201d \u2014 Reading Acts\" src=\"https:\/\/readingacts.com\/2020\/07\/28\/book-review-patrick-schreiner-the-ascension-of-christ-recovering-a-neglected-doctrine\/embed\/#?secret=CctnbWxwCJ#?secret=PPVmRV20W1\" data-secret=\"PPVmRV20W1\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/ehrmanblog.org\/at-last-jesus-and-the-son-of-man\/<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/edwardfeser.blogspot.com\/2020\/08\/the-particle-collection-that-fancied.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Edward Feser<\/a> wrote something about physics that applies just as well to history including mythicism:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There is a crucial but widely overlooked lesson here. When your basic assumptions are unsound, greater intelligence by no means guarantees that you will come to see this. On the contrary, sometimes you will end up only more hardened in error than a less intelligent person would be, because you will be able to come up with subtler fallacies and cleverer self-deceptions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>https:\/\/internetmonk.com\/archive\/reconsider-jesus-the-beginning-mark-11<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/internetmonk.com\/archive\/reconsider-jesus-from-nazareth-mark-19a<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/bibleandculture\/2020\/08\/31\/the-difference-between-critical-and-sceptical-thinking\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Witherington shared thoughts from J. B. Lightfoot about faith, skepticism, and credulity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting <a href=\"https:\/\/scribesofthekingdom686237748.wordpress.com\/2020\/07\/30\/an-apocalyptic-trinitarianism\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">post on \u201capocalyptic Trinitarianism\u201d<\/a> had this to say: \u201cwhile the first Christians recognized the subordination of Christ to the one God (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:27-28), they expected Jesus to function\u00a0<em>as God<\/em>\u00a0(or to the pagans,\u00a0<em>as a god)\u00a0<\/em>in the eschatological context.
