Weiss\u2019 television series,\u00a0<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>, Tom Perrotta\u2019s novel,\u00a0<em>The Leftovers<\/em>, and Terrence Malick\u2019s film,\u00a0<em>The Tree of Life<\/em>, and the twentieth of Neil Gaiman\u2019s novel,\u00a0<em>American Gods<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 is a provocative occasion for a critical reexamination of these and related parables at the intersection of the secular and the supernatural, in their original formulations and as they have developed subsequently. (A few additional examples, albeit not enjoying similar anniversaries, include, say,\u00a0<em>The Dark Tower<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Gilead<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Testaments<\/em>,\u00a0<em>His Dark Materials<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Book of Dust<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Lost<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Parable of the Sower<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Parable of the Talents<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Raised by Wolves<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Satanic Verses<\/em>.)\u00a0The intended panel\/roundtable will explore such a reexamination.<\/p>\n<p>All approaches are welcome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission guidelines<\/strong>: Please forward a detailed abstract, roughly three to five hundred words in length, together with a cv, by\u00a0December 30, 2020, to Trip McCrossin, Department of Philosophy, Rutgers University, at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:trip@mccrossin.org\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">trip@mccrossin.org<\/a>.
