The study suggests that the degree to which the relationships in the story mirror real ones \u2013 including those one can observe today in social media like Facebook and Twitter \u2013 corresponds to the degree of real evidence for the myths being based on historical people.<\/p>\n<p>Should this be <a href=\"http:\/\/unsettledchristianity.com\/2012\/07\/move-over-carrier-let-a-real-scientist-show-you-how-its-done\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+unsettledchristianityblog+%28Unsettled+Christianity%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">applied to the New Testament<\/a>? It certainly would be interesting to see whether the relationships described there likewise mirror real ones. Presumably there is a lot more testing to be done on this method before anyone should try using it to \u201cprove\u201d anything. And even if it were so applied, it presumably wouldn\u2019t convince the <a href=\"http:\/\/orthodoxwars.com\/?p=801\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">mythicists<\/a>, who are determined to be <a href=\"http:\/\/theconnexion.net\/wp\/?p=12784#axzz21gwPjmRi\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">denialists<\/a>, while for mainstream scholars it might simply confirm what the evidence already points to.<\/p>\n<p>For those who wish to read <a href=\"http:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/0295-5075\/99\/2\/28002\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the actual study by\u00a0P\u00e1draig Mac Carron and Ralph Kenna, the title is \u201cUniversal properties of mythological networks\u201d and it is published in\u00a0<em>EPL<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(<em>Europhysics Letters<\/em>).
