Culture (<\/span><span class=\"color_11\">August 15 &amp; 16, 2021)<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgcfxf72inlineContent\" data-testid=\"inline-content\">\n<div data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgcfxf72inlineContent-gridContainer\" data-testid=\"mesh-container-content\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgcg1l4t\" class=\"_1Z_nJ\" data-testid=\"richTextElement\"><span class=\"color_11\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalhammurabi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\" decorated-link\">Digital Hammurabi<\/a>\u00a0and Save Ancient Studies Alliance have partnered to create a new type of conference for ALL Ancient Studies scholars.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><span class=\"color_11\">The goals of this conference are:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kgcfxyf7\">\n<div class=\"_3BQmz\" data-testid=\"columns\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgcfxyio\" class=\"_1HpZ_\">\n<div id=\"bgLayers_comp-kgcfxyio\" class=\"_3_wbk\">\n<ol>\n<li id=\"bgMedia_comp-kgcfxyio\" class=\"_33YMf\">\u00a0Present and support excellent scholarship by scholars at the fringes of the academic community and researchers who have not followed the traditional tenure-track career path.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_33YMf\">Foster discussion and action regarding public outreach and scholarly inclusiveness.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_33YMf\">Hold a conference freely available to the public.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_33YMf\">Begin building a joint community of scholars including both those not on the traditional academic path and those in the ivory tower.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kh15vlg0\">\n<div id=\"bgLayers_comp-kh15vlg0\" class=\"_3_wbk\">\n<div data-testid=\"colorUnderlay\">We aim to bring together scholars who do not normally have the opportunity to present and engage with scholarship, including:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kh161r2d\">\n<div class=\"_3BQmz\" data-testid=\"columns\">\n<div id=\"comp-kh161r47\" class=\"_1HpZ_\">\n<div class=\"\" data-mesh-id=\"comp-kh161r47inlineContent\" data-testid=\"inline-content\">\n<div data-mesh-id=\"comp-kh161r47inlineContent-gridContainer\" data-testid=\"mesh-container-content\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgchjydc\" class=\"_1Z_nJ\" data-testid=\"richTextElement\">\n<ul class=\"font_8 color_11\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Completed a PhD and are now professionals in other fields<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Left PhD programs<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Contingent faculty<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Academics from marginalized groups<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Teachers, professors, and staff from all educational institutions<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Cultural resource management professionals<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Independent scholars<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kgchsiz2\">\n<div class=\"_3BQmz\" data-testid=\"columns\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgchsj0h\" class=\"_1HpZ_\">\n<div id=\"bgLayers_comp-kgchsj0h\" class=\"_3_wbk\">\n<div id=\"bgMedia_comp-kgchsj0h\" class=\"_33YMf\">\u00a0The conference will also include two round-table discussions to conclude each day:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kgci5teg\">\n<div class=\"_3BQmz\" data-testid=\"columns\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgci5tg6\" class=\"_1HpZ_\">\n<div class=\"\" data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgci5tg6inlineContent\" data-testid=\"inline-content\">\n<div data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgci5tg6inlineContent-gridContainer\" data-testid=\"mesh-container-content\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgci5tg9\" class=\"_1Z_nJ\" data-testid=\"richTextElement\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">Diversity in Ancient Studies: Problem Solving Through Outreach<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"font_8\">Lateral Thinking: Academic Skill sets in the \u201cReal\u201d World<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"comp-kgcf71m4\">\n<div id=\"bgLayers_comp-kgcf71m4\" class=\"_3_wbk\">\n<div class=\"P0kib FgquG\" data-testid=\"colorUnderlay\">Any scholar of the Ancient Mediterranean and Mesopotamia, broadly defined, is welcomed and encouraged to submit an academic paper proposal in the subject areas of Religion, Culture, or History. In addition, all presenters are strongly encouraged to participate in at least one of the two discussion groups, as follows.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_3BQmz\" data-testid=\"columns\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgcf71qe\" class=\"_1HpZ_\">\n<div class=\"\" data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgcf71qeinlineContent\" data-testid=\"inline-content\">\n<div data-mesh-id=\"comp-kgcf71qeinlineContent-gridContainer\" data-testid=\"mesh-container-content\">\n<div id=\"comp-kgcf7eb4\" class=\"_1Z_nJ\" data-testid=\"richTextElement\">\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_11\">In this inclusive context, beyond the scholarly presentations, we will also host special sessions in which we aim to discuss a range of issues pertaining to the precarious situation of Ancient Studies.
