I have a student in my course on the Book of Revelation this semester who is interested in investigating the background to the warning at the end of the book (Revelation 22:18-19<\/a>) pronouncing curses on anyone who tampers with it. I am aware of funerary inscriptions and curses used in those sorts of contexts, but am not aware of any literary <\/em>tradition that might be in the background at this point in Revelation. <\/p>\n

I know that this blog has readers who specialize in a wide range of topics: Hebrew Bible, New Testament, Ancient Near Eastern, Greek and Roman literature, and much else. Any suggestions that you would have for this student, including literary parallels or places (print or online) to look for collections of potentially relevant primary sources (including inscriptions) would be gratefully received!<\/p>\n
