Nova Forum Postdoctoral Fellowship in Science and Religion, 2023-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n The Nova Forum for Catholic Thought is an initiative of the Roman Catholic community at the University of Southern California in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Our mission is to introduce students to the Catholic intellectual tradition and to share that tradition\u2019s resources with secular universities. Nova Forum is currently a project sponsored by the USC Caruso Catholic Center, a national leader in Catholic campus ministry. We also work collaboratively with the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at USC. Our programs focus on intellectual formation of undergraduate and graduate students at USC and Pepperdine University in cooperation with Catholic faculty mentors. Nova Forum is led by founding Executive Director David Albertson, a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Religion (USC\u2019s department of Religious Studies) located in the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Nova Forum at USC is one of six Catholic institutes in the In Lumine Network, alongside the Lumen Christi Institute (University of Chicago), Collegium Institute (University of Pennsylvania), Harvard This grant makes possible the appointment of a Nova Forum Postdoctoral Fellow in Science and Religion at USC for the academic year 2023-2024, located administratively in the USC School of Religion, and reporting to Prof. David Albertson. The Fellow is responsible for organizing, executing, and disseminating a series of public academic programs on science and religion including lectures, master classes, faculty symposia, and summer seminars. The Fellow will manage related budgets and financial reporting. The Fellow will assist with Nova Forum seminars and other events and, pending experience, may be appointed as Associate Director of Nova Forum for the period of the fellowship.<\/p>\n The Nova Forum Postdoctoral Fellow will be a USC employee with standard benefits offered to postdoctoral research associates, including USC email, library access, and shared office space. Compensation is aligned with postdoctoral fellowships offered by the USC Society of Fellows in the Humanities. The start date will be August 1, 2023. Applicants must have a PhD either in the humanities (with preference for religion, theology, ethics, or philosophy) or in the natural or social sciences. Candidates should have demonstrable experience organizing public academic programs and facility with hybrid online media. Specific academic interests in the religion and science dialogue are welcome but not required. \nCatholic Forum (Harvard University), Saint Anselm Institute (University of Virginia), and COLLIS (Cornell University). In January 2022, the Network received a generous $3.6M, three-year grant from the John Templeton Foundation to strengthen the network\u2019s infrastructure and to implement a series of programs on religion and science in Catholic perspective. The funds are intended both for public academic programs and for building staff support as each institute grows over the next three years.<\/p>\n
