It came from the generic-sounding e-mail address fallnominations2010@post.com. Here\u2019s the text of the e-mail:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>September, 2010 <\/p>\n<p>Faculty \/Staff Member,<\/p>\n<p>It is my pleasure to inform you that you are being considered for inclusion in 2010\/2011 Edition of <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho\u2019s Who in North American Colleges and Universities\u201d (2010\/2011Edition)<\/p>\n<p>which is an exclusive section of Biltmore \u201cWho\u2019s Who Among Executives and Professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This upcoming national hardcover publication and online network from Biltmore Who\u2019s Who, was launched in 2006. Students, faculty, and staff members alike are helping to nominate the finest individuals from schools throughout the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to recognize individuals for their commitment to and influence on teaching.There is no fee to be listed.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in being a part of our national registry , spend thirty seconds filling out your basic application below:<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions feel free to e-mail us fallcollegiate@mail.com for additional information.<\/p>\n<p>Regards,<\/p>\n<p>Melanie Moore<\/p>\n<p>Editor-In-Chief<\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s Who in Collegiate Faculty<\/p>\n<p>210 58th Street<\/p>\n<p>New York, NY 10022<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Surely being addressed in a generic fashion such as \u201cFaculty\/Staff\u201d is a good indication that this is a mass-mailing effort and that you have not been singled out for inclusion? And there is a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ripoffreport.com\/Con-Artists\/Biltmore-Who-s-Who-I\/biltmore-who-s-who-inc-biltmo-a2m7d.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">information<\/a> about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookkeeping-basics.net\/is-the-biltmore-whos-who-a-scam.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Biltmore<\/a> online, with whom they claim to be associated.<\/p>\n<p>I love the fact that, on <a href=\"http:\/\/whoswhoincollegiatefaculty.com\/faqs\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">their web site\u2019s FAQ page<\/a>, they say \u201cMontclair Publishing\u2019s \u201cWho\u2019s Who\u201d Registries are proudly not affiliated with any other \u201cWho\u2019s Who\u201d organization.\u201d If being proud not to be affiliated with any of the other organizations of this sort isn\u2019t a warning, I don\u2019t know what is!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I can\u2019t say anything specific about this particular organization from my own experience \u2013 I can only offer advice based on experience with other organizations which seemed to be offering something similar. And that advice is that the danger of scams is too great, and the rewards of inclusion in a print volume to slim, to make it worth taking the chance that one of these organizations might be legitimate.
