The \u201cGospel of Jesus\u2019 Wife<\/a>\u201d has not been getting as much attention in the media or on blogs<\/a> the past few days. Today<\/a> it seems likely that that will change<\/a>. As Mark Goodacre<\/a> pointed out<\/a> on his blog, Andrew Bernhard has posted an article with a tentative suggestion about the composition of the \u201cGospel of Jesus\u2019 Wife\u201d<\/a> in which he detects evidence that a modern<\/a> forger<\/a> used Mike Grondin\u2019s online interlinear \u2013 namely the reproduction<\/a> of a typo<\/a> from that online source.<\/p>\n

The Gospels allegedly according to Jesus\u2019 disciples copied from one another. Now the Gospel of his wife may have been caught<\/a> copying<\/a> from the internet! What is ancient Christianity coming to? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Mark Goodacre<\/a> also had a post yesterday in which he linked to an article by Mary-Evelyn Farrior<\/a>, about the fragment and scholars\u2019 perspectives on it, including that of Egyptologist Leo Depuydt, who has the following to say, among other things:<\/p>\n

\"\"An ancient native speaker of Coptic who can select and combine words and phrases from the Gospel of Thomas with any understanding could not possibly have produced said grammatical blunders\u2026 I don\u2019t need any papyrus or ink tests. I already know it is a fake.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
