I have the honor of serving as program chair for the 21st annual conference of the University Faculty for Life<\/a>, which will be held at the University of Notre Dame on June 10-11, 2011. The on-campus host is Notre Dame philosophy professor, David Solomon<\/a>, W.P. and H.B. White Director of the Notre Dame Center for Ethics & Culture<\/a>, where I served as the Mary Anne Remick Senior Visiting Fellow in 2008-2009<\/a>. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you are a prolife academic (or retired academic), you should join<\/a> UFL. The annual dues are negligible ($35.00), but the collegiality, fellowship, and intellectual stimulation are priceless. And if you are not an academic but nevertheless interested in UFL\u2019s resources (including its annual meeting), you can become an associate member for only $10.00<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The following includes both a description of UFL as well as the call for papers. (I encourage those close by to Notre Dame\u2013such as my friends in Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana\u2013to seriously consider submitting a paper and\/or attending):<\/p>\n

<\/p><\/span><\/address>\n

Life and Learning XXI will enable pro-life faculty to deepen their understanding of basic life issues in their political, social, legal, historical, psychological, ethical, and religious dimensions.\n

University Faculty for Life is a non-denominational, multi-disciplinary organization which welcomes the membership and participation of all pro-life faculty members in institutions of higher education. In 2011 its annual conference will be held at the University of Notre Dame. Attendance is open to current or former members of college, university, and seminary faculty and their spouses, and to others by individual request.<\/p>\n

The Conference will begin early afternoon on Friday, June 10th and end with a banquet on Saturday night. There will be optional religious services on Sunday morning. The Conference fee will cover all sessions, the opening reception, refreshments between sessions, a light breakfast, and the closing banquet. Costs and details will be published soon.<\/p>\n

UFL is pleased to have Professor David Solomon as our local host.<\/span><\/p>\n
