<\/a>R3 Contributor\u00a0<\/span>Gee Joyner<\/a>\u00a0will speak at the Lunch and Learn Series hosted by Gifts of Life Ministries<\/a> November 12, at 12:00 noon. The church is located at 1542 Jackson Ave. in Memphis, Tennessee.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Lunch and Learn is a new ministry of the church designed to foster a better understanding of topics that are germane to people in the community. Speakers in this series will typically speak on topics straight from the headlines. Professor Joyner\u2019s talk will focus on\u00a0contemporary\u00a0topics from his newly published book\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He Talk White: The Scholarly and Artistic Works of a Writer.\u00a0<\/a>An anthology of sorts, Joyner\u2019s text deconstructs the negative depiction of African <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

Americans in mass media while reconstructing what it means to be Black in America in the 21st century. A collection of op-ed pieces, scholarly essays, and a short story of fiction, \u201cHe Talk White\u201d is sure to evoke thought and dialogue concerning the conundrum of race, as well as sexuality and religious affiliation, in the United States.<\/span>

Gee Joyner is a professor of English at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee and co-producer and host of the web series The Pastor and the Professor.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
