Our American celebration of Halloween has very little to do with observing a Christian \u201cAll Hallows\u2019 Eve\u201d before the \u201cAll Hallows Day\u201d remembrance of the dead.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;border: 0px;line-height: 26px;padding: 0px 0px 24px;vertical-align: baseline\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">On \u201cAll Hallows\u2019 Eve,\u201d skeletons, ghosts and graveyards were supposed to be scary reminders of human mortality, and the threat of damnation like the image above.\u00a0 Carved pumpkins lit from within, or \u201cJack O\u2019 Lanterns,\u201d were originally to frighten \u201cevil spirits\u201d away.
