It\u2019s hard to figure out how to write a blog post on sexuality, when you work for the church. Here goes. Most humans are sexual beings. And in my experience, the church is mostly terrible at being honest about sex and sexuality. I did an informal social media poll of Christians, asking what messages they received from church growing up. Here are a few examples:\u00a0<\/span> \u201cNothing\u201d \u201c\u201d \u201cI was going to hell\u201d (from a gay man)\u00a0\u201cNot to do it until you\u2019re married\u201d\u00a0\u201cThat it was shameful\u2026 all of it\u201d\u00a0\u201cSex is bad \u2013 save it for the one you love\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cIf I had relied on church teachings, instead of the streets\/cars\/books, I still wouldn\u2019t understand where my children came from\u201d\u00a0\u201cDIRTY BAD!\u201d\u00a0\u201cNothing, except sex waited until marriage!\u201d\u00a0\u201cEvangelical youth group: No sex, no Disco (b\/c it\u2019s all about sex), sex is the DARK side, and: don\u2019t talk abt it\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
