<\/a><\/div>\nA native of the Bronx, New York, Rev. Dr. Noel Hutchinson obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in 1982 in the areas of Sociology and American Studies. In May of 1991, he graduated cum laude with the degree of Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School located in Madison, New Jersey, and in 2007 received his Doctor of Ministry degree at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio<\/span><\/div>\n
Dr. Hutchinson was also the first-ever Youth Minister of the Mount Olive Baptist Church of Hackensack, New Jersey. In September of 1991 he became one of the Pastors at the historic Concord Baptist Church of Christ of Brooklyn, New York, where Doctor Gary V. Simpson is Senior Pastor. During his tenure at Concord he was instrumental in the completion of phase I of the Capital Improvement Project, heavily involved in several aspects of Christian Education, and active in the lives of Concord\u2019s youth. He has been active as a teacher in the Progressive National Baptist Convention <\/a>on both the state and regional levels. Dr. Hutchinson has also taught extensively in the Memphis Baptist Congress of Christian Education, and the Tennessee B.M. & E. State Convention. In 1995, Dr. Hutchinson became the seventh Pastor of the historic First Baptist Church, Lauderdale<\/a> in Memphis, Tennessee. Under his leadership First Baptist has developed Mustard Seed, Inc. a separate nonprofit 501c3 corporation, which currently partners in a collaborative job readiness and computer training component with New Pathways, Inc., LeMoyne Owen College Community Development Corporation and the Memphis Housing Authority. He has also expanded its Christian Education program through Bible study for adults and youth. Dr. Hutchinson was recently the College Chaplain at LeMoyne-Owen College, a historically Black college in Memphis. Under his leadership, LeMoyne-Owen began a Faith in Action Community Conference in partnership with the Congress of National Black Churches, Memphis Affiliate.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Dr. Hutchinson has also been active in various civic and community efforts. Some of his involvements include the Bedford Stuyvesant Advisory Council\u2013Consumer Outreach & Protection for Brooklyn Union Gas, and a past president of the Memphis Ministers Association. He also has served on the following boards: the Memphis Chapter of the NAACP, Memphis Urban League, Church and Community Investment Fund, The Church Health Center, and the Volunteer Center of Memphis. Since November of 2012, Dr. Hutchinson is the host of \u2018Black Thought\u2019, <\/a>a television show airing every weekday on MUTV1<\/a>, Memphis\u2019 first African American owned TV station.
