Mixing two parts \u201cchurch girl\u201d with sociology, activism and Hip-Hop, Candice Benbow seeks to engage in innovative theological practices that will transform underserved and oppressed communities. Candice\u2019s blog, \u201cSelah and Amen: Righteous Critique\u201d,<\/a> allows her to marry her passion for writing with her social, political and spiritual commentaries. In February 2011, Candice launched Divine Dialogue,<\/a> an internet radio show discussing socio-religious issues affecting the African-American Community. In its second season, Divine Dialogue reached over 25,000 listeners. Candice has appeared on The Huffington Post Live and is a guest columnist with Urban Cusp Magazine. Her pieces have also appeared on ShePreaches.com<\/a> and in local newspapers.\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>Currently, Candice is a graduate student at Duke Divinity School. A believer in the necessity of historically Black colleges and universities, she holds an M.A. in Sociology from North Carolina Central University and a B.S. in African-American Studies from Tennessee State University. Candice is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Center for HBCU Media Advocacy, Inc., which seeks to promote the mission, culture and development of HBCUs through new media exposure, training and education. \u2028\u2028Candice is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. As an educator, Candice enjoys inspiring her students to think critically and engage in thoughtful discussion. She teaches courses on race, gender, marriage and family, aging, national and global social problems, statistics and sociological theory.\u00a0<\/span>
