Tyndale\u2019s crime was an intense desire to see his fellow countrymen read the Bible in their own language.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"story_continues_2\" style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">Five hundred years later, Bible societies around the world are pursuing the mission of having the \u2018Book of Books\u2019 translated into every single language known to man, and the number of new versions grows every year.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">According to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitedbiblesocieties.org\/sample-page\/bible-translation\/\" style=\"color: #4a7194;line-height: 16px\" title=\"United Bible Societies: Bible Translation\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">United Bible Societies<\/a>, the complete Bible has been translated into over 475 languages, and the New Testament into more than 1,240.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span class=\"cross-head\" style=\"line-height: 16px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\"><b>Bible ban<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">Oldi Morava, a translator for the Bible Society, was born in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-17679574\" style=\"color: #4a7194;line-height: 16px\" title=\"BBC News: Albania profile\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Albania<\/a>, where the Bible was not always welcome.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">All religious observance and education were banned in 1967 when the country, led by Stalinist dictator Enver Hoxha, was declared the first atheist state in the world. The ban was not lifted until 1991.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">Even Bible smuggling was too dangerous: \u201cThe persecution was so brutal that people were very afraid to get involved in anything like that,\u201d says Mr Morava.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white;line-height: 24px;padding: 0px 0px 24px\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif\">He embraced Christianity when the communist regime in his country collapsed.
