March 22-23, 2013 Tallahassee, Florida\u00a0<\/div>\n

This conference will address the evolving relationship between religion and law throughout American history. Dr. Winnifred Sullivan, Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at Indiana University and distinguished scholar of religion and law, will deliver the keynote address. Professors, attorneys, independent scholars, and graduate students who are interested in the academic study of religion and law are encouraged to submit proposals for individual papers and panels. Scholars from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Participants may explore a diverse array of topics spanning American history from the colonial era to the present, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0First Amendment issues<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0Constitutional originalism\/Constitutional interpretation\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0Judicial definitions of \u201creligion\u201d\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00b7 Faith-based initiatives (vouchers, healthcare, etc.)\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00b7 Religion, race, and law\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00b7 Religion and prison reform\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00b7 Theory and method in the study of religion and law\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Presentations should be approximately 15 to 20 minutes in length and will receive peer responses. Proposals including an abstract of approximately 300 words and a brief CV should be submitted by November 15, 2012 for review. Final papers must be submitted by January 31, 2012.<\/p>\n
