The Rhetoric Race and Religion book club will convene on April 9, 2012 at 6:00pm\u00a0at the\u00a0Caritas Village located at 2509 Harvard in Memphis, Tennessee.\u00a0<\/a>For those not able to make it in person, we will conduct a live tweet chat starting at 7:15pm (CST) using #R3bookclub #thenewjimcrow<\/b>. Lani Guinier, professor of Law at Harvard Law School says that\u00a0<\/span>\u201cMichelle Alexander\u2019s brave and bold new book paints a haunting picture in which dreary felon garb, post-prison joblessness, and loss of voting rights now do the stigmatizing work once done by colored-only water fountains and legally segregated schools. With dazzling candor, Alexander argues that we all pay the cost of the new Jim Crow.\u201d<\/span><\/span>
