So, how did we get to this place?<\/div>\n
A story titled \u201cPreachers confront \u2018last taboo\u2019: Condemning greed amid Great Recession<\/a>\u201d by John Blake appeared on CNN and opened with some quotes from Bishop Harry Jackson.<\/div>\n
Jackson is not shy about stirring up controversy, but he stops short when it comes to preaching about greed. The Maryland bishop said he encourages his congregation to get through the great recession by saving and sharing. But he doesn\u2019t want to alienate well-off members by talking about what\u2019s behind the nation\u2019s economic woes.<\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got to watch it,\u201d said Jackson, pastor at Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland. \u201cI could get into some big teaching on greed, but the reality is that a lot of that teaching may wind up creating anti-economic-growth and anti-capitalism concepts (in people\u2019s minds)\u2026 I always talk about personal responsibility so we don\u2019t get into the blame game.\u201d<\/div>\n
