Johnson<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if Jesus was trying to demonstrate what to do when forgiveness is simply too hard?<\/strong>\u00a0Father forgive them, because I can\u2019t. Father forgive them, because I might just cuss. Father forgive them, because I might lose my mind up in here. Father forgive them, because I might call somebody and roll up on some folks. Father forgive them because this is some mess I can\u2019t understand. Father forgive them, because I don\u2019t know where to turn. Father forgive them because something may come out of me that I don\u2019t want anyone to see. \u00a0Father forgive them, because sometimes they know exactly what they are doing!<strong>\u00a0By asking God to \u201cforgive them,\u201d what if Jesus was showing us what to do when we can\u2019t forgive the hurt and pain that others have caused in our lives??<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/charlestonshooting-hood-blacks-good-blacks-he-just-saw-blacks.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">#CharlestonShooting: \u201cHood Blacks, Good Blacks, He Just Saw Blacks\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/r3-contributor-amy-steele.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">by Amy Steele<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I turn to the church because I too am an ordained clergy person.\u00a0 I have been trained by some of the finest thinkers in this country.\u00a0 While government uses events like this as opportunity to discuss gun violence, which it should, I would rather appeal to conscious.\u00a0 Stricter gun laws are a technical response to a bigger issue.\u00a0 We cannot legislate how we feel about each other.\u00a0 No law can do that. No law can legislate our attitudes.\u00a0 No law can mandate that we listen to people who are different from us. No law can demand the understanding that it will take for us to begin treating each other with respect. Law cannot inspire us to love. Only visionaries and prophets can do that.\u00a0 And even then we fail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/charlestonshooting-how-long-white-america-how-long-pt-1.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">#CharlestonShooting: How Long White America? How Long-Pt. 1<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/r3-contributor-travis-harris.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">by Travis Harris<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Ku Klux Klan, which has been the \u201cface\u201d of White Supremacy, is a part of White Christian America. Reagan, who played a monumental role in the present school-to-prison pipeline and mass incarceration system, was a White Christian. It was White Christians who led the pro-Darren Wilson marches and held up signs saying \u201cSupport OUR POLICE! PRAY FOR PEACE\u201d and \u201cBlessed are the peacemakers.\u201d Many who attack me on my Facebook page and on comment sections are White Christians who say the same damn thing: \u201cstop playing the victim,\u201d \u201cjust listen to the cops and Blacks will not be killed,\u201d \u201cstop race baiting,\u201d \u201cstop killing each other,\u201d \u201cBlack on Black crime,\u201d and \u201cabortion is the biggest issue for the Blacks.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/a-social-death-by-misadventure-rachel-dolezal-and-the-manipulation-of-blackness-part-1.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">A Social Death By Misadventure: Rachel Dolezal and the Manipulation of Blackness (Part 1)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rainbowsandlilacs.blogspot.com\/2015\/06\/a-social-death-by-misadventure-rachel.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">by Gee Joyner<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Black American experience is much more nuanced than the music, soul food, civic organizations you have membership in, college courses you teach, or romantic relationships you choose. Braids or \u2018fros don\u2019t cut the mustard, folks.\u00a0\u00a0The conundrum lies in the alleged allegations that she has been a victim of racial discrimination and harassment because of her race or ethnicity which is a lie in and of itself.\u00a0\u00a0She is a white woman who has chosen to become aesthetically, and for all intents and purposes, Black.\u00a0\u00a0The media alleges that the threats she says she has endured and the letters she has received and the noose planted in her yard are all a hoax.\u00a0\u00a0And this is what\u2019s troubling.\u00a0\u00a0The Black American experience isn\u2019t a game.\u00a0\u00a0The Black lives that have been lost solely due to the stereotypes perpetuated that suggest the Black American is a menace to society and a harbinger of skullduggery and criminality are no joking matter and definitely not something that should be taken with a grain of salt.\u00a0 There is a huge difference\u00a0between wearing a costume &amp; wearing a hue or attire that cannot come off or be discarded in a closet or found at a beauty shop or tanning salon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/rhetoricraceandreligion\/2015\/06\/charlestonshooting-why-i-want-us-to-stop-praying-for-a-while.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">#CharlestonShooting: Why I Want Us to Stop Praying for a While<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/crystalstmarielewis.com\/about\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">by Crystal St. Marie Lewis<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I continue in this day of sadness and bewilderment with a heavy heart and with the conviction that we religious folks may, perhaps, need a moratorium on our talks with God\u2014 for a short time at least. We need, instead, to start talking openly, honestly and without fear to one another about how people in our generation continue to participate in the oppressive phenomenon known as racism.
