So this happened, as we were protesting the injustice of setting former police officer Jason Stockley free in the killing of Anthony Lamar\u00a0Smith. I share as a teaching moment:
\nA black lady called me a bitch; my presence made her feel violent\u2026.
\nI did not do or say anything to provoke this, it just is\u2026<\/p>\n

Even as a child I never understood why black people were nice to white people\u2013they have every reason to think us horrible creations\u2026
\nIt speaks to the character of black people that we get any love at all\u2026<\/p>\n

If we believe that black lives matter, we must also realize black feelings matter\u2026
\nIf our presence causes black lives to feel some kind of way, we need to fall back with grace, not indignation\u2026.<\/p>\n

That lady, she\u2019s hurting\u2026
\nAnd people who look like me caused that hurt\u2026..
\nI have to be honest, at first, I couldn\u2019t believe she was talking about ME?!?!
\nAnd I had a moment of feeling some kind of way\u2026<\/p>\n

But it was just a moment\u2026my spirit reminded my ego
\nBlack lives are greater than white feelings<\/p>\n

So, white folks be aware, be sensitive and compassionate\u2026.
\nBe present\u2026be aware of other white folks\u2026and if your white feelings get hurt, get them in check or go home\u2026<\/p>\n
