Some slammed the calendar for allegedly objectifying Muslim men, while others applauded it as a creative way of drawing attention to accomplished and talented American Muslims.<\/span><\/div>\n
Calendar creator\u00a0Ayesha Mattu<\/a>\u00a0and editor of the forthcoming book\u00a0Salaam, Love: American Muslim Men on Love, Sex & Intimacy<\/a><\/em>\u00a0joined HuffPost Live hosts\u00a0Alyona Minkovski<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ahmed Shihab- Eldin<\/a>\u00a0(he also happens to be \u201cMr. May\u201d) to elaborate on the intention behind the provocative list, and the importance of \u201cshifting the narrative\u201d when it comes to American Muslims in the spotlight.<\/span><\/div>\n
Calendar critic and college student\u00a0Hidaya Nawee<\/a>\u00a0said she \u201cfelt that there were better ways to bring attention to the most accomplished Muslim men without actually putting their bodies on display.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
