What is stopping you?\u00a0 What is YOUR missing piece?\n

My latest blog post is not your typical \u201cnew year\u2019s\u201d message.\u00a0\u00a0 I find there are people like me who, after all their planning, visioning, and goal setting still find they are seeking something more\u2026.that missing piece!\u00a0 If you\u2019ve had that nagging feeling I am talking about, read on and discover the 3 Common Traps of the Visionary Leader.<\/p>\n

Do you need affirmation? I find many entrepreneurial types sabotage success by seeking to continually re-affirm their efforts, focus, and endeavor.\u00a0 This is not the same as asking for customer feedback but rather seeking to have our doubts relieved.\u00a0 The challenge we create for ourselves by seeking external validation, many times in the wrong places, we confirm our own fears which keeps us on an emotional roller coaster.<\/p>\n

Here are some common questions I\u2019ve found we want answered:<\/p><\/span><\/div>\n

    \n
  • Am I doing the right thing?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do I really have something valuable to offer?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Will anyone buy my service?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Will people really like me?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • What if someone finds out I am faking it till I make it?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Fill in the blank\u2026.what is the question on your heart that needs affirmation?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Are you paralyzed because you need to know what\u2019s next, what\u2019s first, and want a complete road map from A-Z? There is a time for planning\u2026and a time for action.\u00a0 Planning becomes less effective when it drags on and on without sufficient action.\u00a0 Some of the principle driven quotes that keep me moving forward are:<\/span><\/div>\n
      \n
    • \u201cTake the first step in faith. You don\u2019t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.\u201d -Martin Luther King, Jr.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • \u201cAction is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.\u201d\u00a0 -Norman Vincent Peale<\/span><\/li>\n
    • \u201cBe strong. Take courage\u2026.God is striding ahead of you. He\u2019s right there with you. He won\u2019t let you down; he won\u2019t leave you. Don\u2019t be intimidated. Don\u2019t worry.\u201d -Deut. 31:8 The Message<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Is your arrogance keeping you from growth? O0uucch! That hurts!\u00a0 Hey, I am\u00a0 looking in the mirror as I am writing this post.\u00a0 You are not alone!\u00a0 You may be saying to yourself, \u201cThat\u2019s not me!\u00a0 Arrogance is boastful and proud.\u201d\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 Could it be showing up in other ways?\n

      For those of us self-starters, do-it-yourself\u2019ers, bootstrapping types the action is where it\u2019s at!\u00a0 We cut our teeth on our tenacity, boldness, and our strong will.\u00a0 We wrestled our vision into reality by working hard, trying hard, and generally producing a flurry of activity.\u00a0 This serves us well in many situations but there is a time when it ABSOLUTELY keeps us stuck.\u00a0 The truth is that our past success through hard work and activity can and does produce arrogance. It\u2019s that attitude that says, \u201cI know how to get things done. After all, look how far I\u2019ve come!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 We continue to struggle\u00a0 even when the current evidence of our activities with limited results proves us wrong.<\/p>\n

      How will you know if your arrogance is holding you back? When was the last time you hired a coach\u2026and let them hold you accountable? When was the last time you stopped working so hard and took a break?\u00a0 When was the last time you asked for honest feedback from more than just your friends who are going to tell you what you want to hear?\u00a0 When was the last time you gave yourself permission to say \u201cI don\u2019t even know what I don\u2019t know\u201d and be willing to ask for help?
      This is your year to find your missing piece!<\/p>\n

      You see, here is what I know for sure about you!<\/p><\/span><\/div>\n

        \n
      • You have a big idea that drives you.\u00a0 That big idea or vision was birthed out of your life experience, gift mix, and personal history.\u00a0 It won\u2019t let you go until you succeed or fail.\u00a0 The only way you\u2019ll fail is if you stop.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • You were wired to pursue your big idea and make a difference in the world.\u00a0 You have strengths that will accelerate your achievement\u2026or deter you if over extended.\u00a0 Those same strengths and life experiences that birthed your big idea will differentiate you from your competitor and in fact, make your competition mostly irrelevant.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • You are a work in progress.\u00a0 You know more today than you did, two weeks ago, two months ago, two years ago.\u00a0 The same applies to the future!\u00a0 You will know more in two weeks, two months, and two years than you do right now.\u00a0 Never stop learning or growing.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • You can absolutely, without question, make more money and have more fun working in your strengths and pursuing your big idea.\u00a0 It\u2019s outrageous, I know, but it is possible to build an economic engine that is fueled by your talents packaged as service that in turn impacts and influences you, your family, your community and possibly the world!<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The catch!\u00a0 You can\u2019t do it alone.\u00a0 None of us can.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        I challenge you to<\/span><\/div>\n
          \n
        • step out in faith and confidence,<\/span><\/li>\n
        • look inside for what you know is true,<\/span><\/li>\n
        • take action with a focus on what fuels you, moves you forward and learn from your results,<\/span><\/li>\n
        • calmly say, \u201cI don\u2019t know what I don\u2019t know yet, but I am going to find out\u201d!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
