During the presidential campaign, as well as in Black Lives Matter protests, some people carried signs saying, \u201cAMERICA WAS NEVER GREAT!\u201d<\/p>\n

I get it. \u00a0We (European settlers) found a virgin continent about 500 years ago. \u00a0The aboriginal inhabitants had lived sustainably on the land for thousands of years, but we rounded up these inhabitants, took away\u00a0their land and way of life, broke our promises, and believed it made no sense to let a few savages stand in the way of progress.<\/p>\n

We imported black slaves from Africa, profited unconscionably from their forced labor, and regarded them as subhuman primates.<\/p>\n

I could go on for pages.<\/p>\n

Yet America was<\/u>\u00a0great. \u00a0She has fallen well short of perfection, but America was founded on great ideas, ideas not even conceivable to anyone up until a very short time before America\u2019s founding. \u00a0Yes, Athens\u00a0had a sort of democracy, but it was really more of an oligarchy. \u00a0King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta in 1215, but it granted rights primarily to the landed aristocracy.<\/p>\n

During the Enlightenment, radical ideas circulated: \u00a0Ideas about universal human rights, equality, freedom, and democracy. \u00a0Just then, a whole new virgin continent was discovered, and men and women imbued\u00a0with these noble ideas were presented with a one-time-only opportunity to try them out under ideal conditions. \u00a0Many thought this was divine providence.<\/p>\n

I find myself torn about the wisdom of the American Experiment. \u00a0Can ordinary, fallen people ever hope to form a nation \u201cconceived and dedicated\u201d to government \u201cof the people, by the people, and for the\u00a0people,\u201d that will \u201clong endure\u201d?<\/p>\n

After only two centuries, we are, I am afraid, proving that they cannot. \u00a0And that makes me sad. \u00a0It makes me ashamed to be a human being. \u00a0It leaves me confused. \u00a0I am proud to be an American; but when I\u00a0look at the way we have squandered our unique, God-given opportunity, I am ashamed.<\/p>\n

Less than 250 years after this great experiment officially began, we have made it into a reeking cesspool. \u00a0Our insatiable appetite for drugs is making Latin America nearly uninhabitable. \u00a0STD\u2019s are raging out of\u00a0control. \u00a0The internet brings 24 hour pornography into all our homes. \u00a0LGBTQ psychosexual pathologies are flaunted, celebrated, and encouraged. \u00a0Women fight for the right to rip babies from their wombs as a<\/p>\n

means toward fornication with impunity. \u00a0Here in the richest, freest, and most powerful nation in the world, depression, anxiety, and suicide are ever more epidemic. \u00a0We are sick unto death. \u00a0We have declared\u00a0the loving Heavenly Father persona non grata, and have sold our national soul to<\/p>\n

Satan. \u00a0Freedom has become license to indulge every hideous, filthy thought we can come up with. \u00a0The American Way is now\u00a0to promote ever more freedom by adding ever more filth to the cesspool, and encouraging more and more people to wallow in it.<\/p>\n

What is a free, democratic society like? \u00a0Is it fragile? \u00a0Should it be used carefully and with great restraint lest it be crushed? \u00a0Or is it like a great iron machine that thrives on abuse? \u00a0Are freedom and democracy\u00a0the natural state of humankind? \u00a0Or does fascism lie right below the surface, ready to restore order when freedom and democracy naturally decay into anarchy and depravity?<\/p>\n

Has America already reached such a nadir that she is ready for fascism? \u00a0Will my vote for Trump help slow the incoming tide of anarchy and depravity?<\/p>\n

Or will my vote for Trump prove to be a vote for fascism? \u00a0Time will tell.<\/p>\n

But a vote for Hillary is clearly a vote in favor of further tinkering with the very infrastructure of Western Civilization and democracy which has been so slowly and painfully built over millenia. \u00a0Hillary is the\u00a0personification of America\u2019s Party of Social Jenga. \u00a0And Jenga always ends in collapse.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
