I know without any doubt that some critic of Against Calvinism is going to gleefully point out that I cannot even get my New Testament references right.\u00a0 I\u2019m reading my own book for the first time in published form.\u00a0 I come to page 68 and read: \u201cSome Calvinists interpret 2 Peter 2:4 as referring only to the elect, but in light of 1 Timothy 2:4, that hardly works.\u201d\u00a0 (Fourth line from the top through sixth line from the top.)<\/p>\n
Obviously, it should read \u201c2 Peter 3:9.\u201d\u00a0 So I went back and looked at my manuscript.\u00a0 Sure enough, it says 2 Peter 3:9.\u00a0 The error crept in during the publisher\u2019s process of creating the \u201cedited manuscript.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s the copy between my submitted manuscript and the page proofs.\u00a0 Neither I nor any editor caught the mistake during the several readings of the edited manuscript and page proofs.\u00a0 Thank God for inerrant original manuscripts!\u00a0 The error is mine ONLY in the sense that I did not catch it when examining the edited manuscript on line.<\/p>\n
Another such error is on page 116.\u00a0 There, in the first line of the first full paragraph (6 lines from the top) it says \u201cJohn 1:10.\u201d\u00a0 It should say (as it does in the rest of the paragraph) John 1:11.\u00a0 So I looked back at my manuscript and the edited manuscript.\u00a0 Both have it as John 1:11.\u00a0 Somehow the \u201c1\u201d got changed to \u201c0\u201d in the final publishing process.<\/p>\n
Every book I have ever written has contained errors in the published editions.\u00a0 Some were my errors, others were ones that crept in when the publisher typed the manuscript for editing and page proofing.\u00a0 In any case, it always makes me upset because I\u2019m a perfectionist.\u00a0 And in this case, anyway, I\u2019m sure these two errors will be touted as proof of my incompetence in handling scripture by some of my less generous critics.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
