It took two years and about $10 million, but the 12,000 local members of the\u00a0Church of Scientology<\/a> in\u00a0Sacramento<\/a> have a new house of worship.<\/p>\n The new Church of Scientology of\u00a0Sacramento<\/a> is a seven-story building at the site of the\u00a0Old Ramona Hotel<\/a> on the corner of Sixth and J streets. Inside can be found a chapel, multiple seminar rooms, classrooms, dozens of rooms for auditing or spiritual counseling, a bookstore and a cafe.<\/p>\n It has a\u00a0Purification Center<\/a> with treadmills and saunas. At the center, members can work off the mental and spiritual effects of drugs, said\u00a0Erin Banks,<\/a> spokeswoman for the\u00a0Church of Scientology International.<\/a> \u201cThis is where people can sweat out drugs, toxins, and pesticides that can affect you,\u201d Banks said. \u201cIt opens the way to spiritual progress.\u201d<\/p>\n The church was paid for by local donations, she said.<\/p>\n
