One of my favorite essays by L. Ron Hubbard<\/a> is titled \u201c Personal Integrity<\/a>,\u201d and it was this one aspect of the religious beliefs that first endeared me to this religion and made Scientology so friendly and welcoming to my own temperament and personal belief system when I first encountered the subject.<\/p>\n

The entire premise of personal integrity is summed up by Mr. Hubbard in the first paragraph of the essay:\u00a0 \u201cWhat is true for you is what you have observed yourself. <\/em>And when you lose that, you have lost everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Imagine how that sounded to me after 14 years of being told what to think in my \u201cformal education.\u201d\u00a0 It was almost as if someone was telling me \u201cI trust your judgment, why don\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n

I had to step back and look, and when I did I \u00a0realized that when I did <\/em>look for myself rather than accept what teachers, boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, politicians, \u201cauthorities\u201d\u2026 said I should see or believe and judged based on my own observation, I was usually right.\u00a0 And even when I was wrong, I could at least say, \u201cWell, that\u2019s what I <\/em>decided.\u201d And not have to use some lame excuse of \u201cwell they told me\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was many years ago that I realized I could and should and had to look for myself.\u00a0 It was a turning point in my life.\u00a0 And I must say my life has been going a whole lot better ever since.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
