Fortunately or unfortunately, my daughter is following in her father\u2019s footsteps and is becoming an avid jumper.\u00a0\u00a0 On some jumps, she sticks the landing \u2013 like in the image above<\/a> from the Children\u2019s Museum of Manhattan.\u00a0 On some other jumps\u2026not so much.<\/p>\n

The other night, My daughter was demanding<\/em> I take pictures with \u201cDaddy\u2019s Camera\u201d of her taking flying leaps off the couch.\u00a0 So, I set up to do so, and she takes a few bounces and leaps<\/em> off the couch and full-on belly flops on the floor, hard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now, generally, what I\u2019ve found most useful in this case is the simple \u201cTell Me About It\u201d assist<\/a>, which you can read about in full here<\/a>.\u00a0 These have worked great with Mackenzie \u2013 I\u2019ll ask her \u201cWhat happened\u201d, she tells me what happened, or if she can\u2019t articulate it in words, she\u2019ll show me with one of her dolls, brighten up, and then go back to playing.<\/p>\n

But this time, after crying for a sec, she gets up, comes running to me and lets loose this flurry of a sentence saying,<\/p>\n

\u201cDaddy!\u00a0 I was doing the BIG JUMP and I WENT DOWN and BONKED and I was WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING?!!!!\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I could only laugh, and she thought it was AWESOME and then ran back to do more jumping.<\/p>\n

Made me think of the final paragraph of that Scientology Handbook article:<\/p>\n

There is nothing difficult about it. After a child has had a few assists this way, he will, upon being injured, run to the person who can administer this painless help and reassurance, demanding to \u201ctell about it.\u201d \u2013 LRH<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Somehow I don\u2019t think this was the last time we\u2019ll be doing that assist after a \u201cbig jump\u201d.\u00a0 \":)\"<\/p>\n

I would definitely recommend anyone who spends any time around children to take the free Children course<\/a><\/em> available on the Volunteer Ministers website<\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s fast, effective know-how that anyone can use to improve the whole activity of raising & looking after children.<\/p>\n
