Back from vacation… Here’s what’s on tap November 22, 2016

It’s been over a week since a post went up on SecularVoices, primarily because I spent the last week escaping from post-election news on a beach in Mexico.  Sad as it sounds, I didn’t write while on vacation because I didn’t want to get angry.  I was detoxing from post-election negativity and would not allow myself to watch or read any news reports, aside from one-line CNN alerts that popped up on my phone from time to time.  Thankfully I was able to re-enter the United States from Mexico at the end of my trip despite having a tan and refraining from Nazi salutes.

Alas, it’s back to reality. Not only did I trade in 85-degree weather with an ocean breeze for 6 inches of snow and noxious fumes from my snowblower, but I’m surrounded once again by social media nonsense, fake news articles, racism apologetics, and updates on every breath Donald Trump makes (or doesn’t make) as he prepares to *gag* become President.

So as I get back in the groove, I thought I’d post a quick update to let you know what’s coming up on SecularVoices as well as with live appearances & speaking events.

This past Sunday I had the honor of being included in Recovering From Religion‘s Thanks for Giving Stream-a-thon. In case you missed it, you can view the whole thing on their Facebook page, or check out my segment below (at the 3:30:00 mark):

In a couple weeks, I’ll be speaking at SkeptiCamp NYC on Saturday, December 3rd. It’s a free event at Baruch College in New York City, so if you’re in the area, come on down and check it out. The tentative schedule and speaker/topic list can be found here.  I’ll be talking about Young Skeptics and our effort to help kids think critically in the (mis)Information Age.

As far as SecularVoices goes, we’ll pick up right where we left off, with content we hope you’ll enjoy reading, sharing, and discussing.  Aside from my own posts, we should see some new content from our SV contributor staff as well, so stay tuned!
