We could talk about family and how it\u2019s so hard\u00a0 raising bi-racial kids<\/a>,\u00a0 confident\u00a0daughters<\/a>,\u00a0 introverted children in a family of extroverts<\/a>, or teenagers who aren\u2019t quite ready to follow the faith of their ministry parents.<\/p>\n

We could talk about\u00a0 fashion<\/a>\u00a0and food <\/a>and really pretty\u00a0 home decor ideas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pinterest is my boo.<\/a><\/p>\n

We could talk about\u00a0 marriage<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0 ministry<\/a>\u00a0and what to do when you have to\u00a0 say goodbye to your big dreams.<\/a><\/p>\n

We could talk about\u00a0 books<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0 things we\u2019re into<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maybe, you, like me, stink at small talk so you wanna go real deep\u2014 sure, let\u2019s talk about\u00a0 racism<\/a>, and\u00a0 reconciliation<\/a>, and\u00a0 choosing to pray for your enemies.<\/a><\/p>\n

Not too long ago, there was an\u00a0Anababe hashtag that it was just a fun thing some of my friends and I made up because we really love the Anabaptist perspective of being\u00a0all about Jesus, all about people, and all about shalom.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being Anabaptist inspired my \u201cPeacemaker\u2019s Manifesto\u201d and we could talk about that too.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019ll always try to be gracious and kind when I start a hard conversation. Peacemaking is hard enough, no need to add self-righteous tones and hasty words, right?<\/p>\n
