<\/span>Yay, it\u2019s Friday, time for Five Minute Friday! \u00a0As y\u2019all know this week I\u2019m writing on the lessons I\u2019m learning about peace for my Lenten commitment of 40 Days of Peace. Today\u2019s word prompt, \u201cr<\/a><\/span>est\u201d<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>was tough, but I remembered a Scripture I read last night about the dove here we GO<\/span>:<\/b>

Restless Until I Rest In You?<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
Saint Augustine of Hippo said, \u201cOur hearts are unquiet until we rest in you\u201d.\u00a0 Then Audrey Assad made it into a song, \u201cRestless Until I Rest In you\u201d, and it took off.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m restless until I rest in Jesus\u201d was the cool, hip, enlighten Christian thing to say.\u00a0 Say it and \u201cbam\u201d instant Christ-cred.\u00a0 But, what does that mean?\u00a0 It\u2019s almost too poetic for this literal soul.\u00a0 <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Sure, the concept conjures up some cool pictures: reclining with Jesus around a table overflowing with bounty and lying in green pastures while I doze to the lullaby of a babbling brook.\u00a0 But, again not super applicable right now.\u00a0 For dinner, I sit around a messy dining room table that\u2019s more of a nuclear spot than a Fly Lady\u2019s \u201chot spot\u201d! \u00a0Sleeping outside is a no-go, It\u2019s 40 degrees, the grass is drenched from melted snow, and um\u2026I don\u2019t know where to find a babbling brook.<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So, \u201crest\u201d.\u00a0 What do I think of when I think of \u201crest\u201d?\u00a0 Well, I\u2019ve been studying the dove all week for today\u2019s post examining the symbolisms of the Dove in the Bible \u00a0called, \u201cDove\u2026more than a phosphate free soap\u201d and this Scripture came to mind.<\/b><\/i><\/span>

<\/b><\/i><\/span>\n
\u201cbut the dove found no\u00a0resting place\u00a0for the sole of her foot, so she returned to him into the ark, for the water was on the surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the ark to himself.<\/span>..\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/i><\/div>\n

The dove Noah sent out surveyed the land, realized it was all under water and that there no places to rest, so she came back home.\u00a0 She came back to the only safe place she knew during one of the world\u2019s most terrifying moments\u2014the great flood.\u00a0 She came back to where she knew she has community and care.\u00a0 She came back to where she\u2019d be nourished and known.\u00a0 She came back to the ark.<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n

So I wonder\u2026<\/b><\/i><\/span>

<\/b><\/i><\/span>Jesus, does resting in you look like that for me?\u00a0 <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Does resting in You mean, that even though You\u2019ll send me out daily into the chaotic and scary world, a world drowned in despair and darkness, a world that has seen some terrifying moments\u2014safety, stability, and being known is found in You? \u00a0Found with You? That the quiet times I always seem to miss, are actually \u201cark returning\u201d moments of rest? <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Is there nourishment in Your word that I should come back home to daily?\u00a0<\/b><\/i><\/span>

<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
It\u2019s true; restlessness is churning over the waters of this drowned world so there isn\u2019t a place for me to set my feet. <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So maybe, just maybe, \u201cRestless Until I Rest In You\u201d means something more than a hipster bike sticker.\u00a0 <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Or, maybe this is almost too poetic for this poor, literal soul.<\/i><\/b><\/span>
