Peterson describes His ministry this way, \u201c<span style=\"background-color:white;color:#333333;line-height:19.453125px;\">He just as clearly repudiated the accustomed means by which that rule was exercised: he rejected the devil\u2019s offer of a position in government, rebuked the brothers Boanerges for wanting to call down fire from heaven to incinerate their enemies, ordered Peter to put up his sword, and reassured Pilate that the government\u2019s job was in no danger. Finally, to make sure no one missed the point, he arranged that his coronation take place on a cross.\u201d (God\u2019s Messages For Each Day, pg.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"background-color:white;color:#333333;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;line-height:19.453125px;\">71)<\/span><br><span style=\"background-color:white;color:#333333;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;line-height:19.453125px;\"><br><\/span><br><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Jesus was expected to be a Warrior Messiah but He came to be our humble Prince of Peace. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Inaugurating\u00a0a new Kingdom that stood in contrast to the kingdom of this world, Jesus\u2019\u00a0coronation as King Eternal of this\u00a0paradoxical, upside down, peculiar,\u00a0peacemaking\u00a0kingdom was on a cross, not a throne! \u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><i><br><\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><i>Can I get a \u201cHallelujer\u201d, y\u2019all?<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><i><br><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">M<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">y\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">identity as a citizen of His radically nonviolent kingdom, is something I never want to forget so<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0I was going to get a cross tattooed on my wrist until a couple of months ago when my pastor preached on the dove that descended on Jesus at His baptism. The interpretations of the symbolism of the dove in the Bible blew my mind! \u00a0Many of them are\u00a0debatable, some of are fun, and others are convicting. \u00a0A few<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0of them reflect my favorite principles of the Kingdom of Jesus.<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">So, let\u2019s check out my ten loves for the dove that contributed to me changing my tattoo:<\/span>\n<div><b style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">10: Doves are cute<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;text-align:center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove.gif?w=1\" style=\"margin-left:1em;margin-right:1em;\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove.gif?w=1\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;text-align:center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove1.gif?w=1\" style=\"margin-left:1em;margin-right:1em;\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove1.gif?w=1\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;text-align:center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove2.jpg\" style=\"clear:left;float:left;margin-bottom:1em;margin-right:1em;\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"128\" src=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/dove2.jpg?w=300\" width=\"200\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0Look at them, with their pure, white feathers and their innocent, little faces.\u00a0 So stinking cute!!!!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>9: Doves mate for life<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Well\u2026Mourning Doves do. Even though they have a life expectancy of two weeks\u00ad\u2014that\u2019s longer than most relationships on the CW! All kidding aside, it\u2019s a beautiful symbol of fidelity and commitment to the one you love. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>8:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><b style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Doves remind me to speak the truth with love<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Jesus invokes the imagery of serpents and doves when he cautions his disciples to temper their zeal to share the Gospel with wisdom and gentleness. I so need this reminder. You may not believe this but, \u00a0your girl can shoot off at the mouth something fierce!\u00a0\u00a0I love <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogger.com\/(http:\/\/www.bible.ca\/ef\/expository-matthew-10-16.htm)\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">this <\/a>encouraging commentary of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Matthew 10:16\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">to balance conviction with tender compassion.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>7: Song of Solomon uses \u201cmy dove\u201d as a term of endearment.\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0So presh! (Songs 1:15, 2:10, 2:14, 4:1, 5:2, 6:9)<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>6: Doves are messengers of hope and I try to hold on to hope. <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i><span style=\"background-color:#f9fdff;back\n\nground-position:initial initial;background-repeat:initial initial;color:#001320;\">When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. Genesis 8:9<\/span><\/i><i>.<\/i> This is probably one of the most hopeful moments in the Old Testament.\u00a0 Noah, after spending 40 days in the ark, tossed back and forth from the waves created by the great flood, finally had hope that a new beginning for mankind was dawning.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>5: Doves indicate a new beginning <\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Speaking of new beginnings, the dove that hovered over and rested on Jesus after his baptism, harkens back to that image of the dove hovering near the ark, proclaiming that the Lord is doing something new.\u00a0 This was the beginning of a new way being: where the first will be last and the foolish things will be chosen to shame the wise. (Genesis 8:11, 1 Cor. 1:27)<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>4:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><b style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Doves remind me to be present with the poor<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i><span style=\"background-color:#fffefd;background-position:initial initial;background-repeat:initial initial;color:#001320;\">and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: \u201cYou are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.\u201d Luke 3:22<\/span><\/i><i><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">When Jews in the first century were too poor to bring larger sacrifices to the temple, such as lambs or goats, \u00a0they sacrificed pigeons, grains, and sometimes turtledoves. The Holy Spirit took on the form of a dove and rest upon Jesus at the beginning of his ministry. What a beautiful picture of solidarity!\u00a0\u00a0God is not only mindful of the poor, he identifies with them.\u00a0\u00a0I want to be a woman of compassion who builds dignity-restoring relationships with the poor.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>3: Doves represent celebrations and I do love a good party!\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">June will be here before we know and with it being the most <a href=\"http:\/\/bridetide.blogspot.com\/2010\/06\/why-is-june-most-popular-wedding-month.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">popular month<\/a> for weddings, \u00a0I have folded many a laundry basket to TLC\u2019s \u201cFour Weddings\u201d Marathon. One episode, a couple released doves to celebrate their union and maybe\u2026just maybe I had a little, tiny (just a smidgen, really) bit of wedding envy. I loved our wedding day; every single moment of it, but if we ever renew our vows, you can bet doves will be released to celebrate! <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>2: The Dove reminds me to depend of the Holy Spirit<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As we plant this church, I\u2019m reminded of the words of <a href=\"http:\/\/pjmiller.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/23\/c-h-spurgeon-depend-on-the-holy-spirit\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Charles H. Spurgeon<\/a> on the Holy Spirit, \u201c<span style=\"background-color:white;\"><i>You are engaged in a work so spiritual, so far above all human power, that to forget the Spirit is to ensure defeat. Make the Holy Ghost to be the sine qua non of your efforts, and go so far as to say to Him, \u201cIf thy presence go not with us, carry us not up hence.\u201d\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>1: Doves are a common symbol of peace and I love the peace teachings of Jesus.<\/b><\/span><br><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0And we bring it back to the beginning, where the teachings and ministry of Jesus has changed my life forever. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">I always said if I ever got a tattoo, it would be of something that Lord has indelibly<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0written on my heart. <\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As the poppy, Christian boy band Plus One puts it, \u00a0\u201ca soul tattoo\u201d :). \u00a0<\/span><br><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">So there you have it, my ten reasons I love the dove! Ten reasons why I can\u2019t wait to get my tattoo next week. Ten reasons why I\u2019m proud to be a citizen of Jesus\u2019 upside down, backwards, peculiar kingdom. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Which one of my loves for the dove do you love \ud83d\ude42<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">?
