Hello Friends,<\/p>\n

Welcome to the second edition of our new series, \u201cHump Day Happiness\u201d!\u00a0 Every Wednesday I\u2019m going to post one thing that inspires joy, happiness, connection, and ALLTHEWARMFUZZYFEELINGS.\u00a0 In honor of Mother\u2019s Day, today\u2019s come from \u201cThe Liturgists\u201d new compilation of amazingness, \u201cGod Our Mother\u201d.<\/p>\n

I learned about this album yesterday when, \u201cThe Brilliance\u201d shared it on Facebook and now I\u2019m officially in love with \u201cThe Liturgists\u201d.<\/p>\n

Growing up Assembly of God, I never experienced liturgy, it seemed like \u201cthat things Catholics and Spirit Quenchers do\u201d. The first year of our marriage my husband and I attended a Presbyterian church with his favorite professor at bible college. \u00a0 Every Sunday they said the Nicene Creed and it really irritated me.\u00a0 Sunday after Sunday I would just say the words, feeling that old Pentecostal<\/a> conviction that we\u2019re somehow \u201cquenching the Spirit\u201d until one Sunday when it clicked. It wasn\u2019t the words, it was the Spirit.\u00a0 The very same Holy Spirit I thought our recitations grieved, was moving in the sanctuary. I saw the connectedness between the blue-haired widow down front and the dread locked teen the back; we were all saying the same words, to the same God, at the same time.\u00a0 Unity.\u00a0 It was perfect harmony. Then I realized somewhere else in New Orleans, somewhere else in the the state, the country, the continent, the whole world, Jesus followers were reciting the Nicene Creed and my heart was overwhelmed with wonder, with love, with joy.\u00a0 I think liturgy has the power to break barriers in ways that even our most eloquent sermons or passionate prayers in tongues can.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m so thankful to have found this new collective.\u00a0 On this album is a fantastic lesson on Apophatic Meditation which is simply put, praying without images.\u00a0 From Shalom Place:<\/a><\/p>\n

No words can express this, and so apophatic prayer emphasizes loving silence and \u201cunknowing\u201d as distinctive features.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I\u2019m intrigued by it, even though it scares the heck out of me, I\u2019m more of a rambly words,\u00a0 imaginative prayer kind of girl.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s Hump Day Happiness Menu is: Papa John\u2019s pizza! (yay for a break from cooking for Mama!)<\/p>\n

In our family we celebrate Hump Day Happiness by choosing a family member and then making (or ordering) their favorite meal.\u00a0 Today, we\u2019re celebrating my husband for going to a job interview at a local church yesterday and acknowledging the tender way he cared for me and the kids when we were sick a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n
