If you look over the post over the past couple of years here on\u00a0 \u201cShalom in the City\u201d , some of my favorites have been playlist posts:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Open When You Need Some Ideas For Self-Care\" href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.wordpress.com\/2014\/10\/17\/open-when-you-need-some-ideas-for-self-care\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Open When You Need Ideas for Self-Care<\/a><br>\n<a title=\"Mix Tape O\u2019 Love For My Hubby\" href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.wordpress.com\/2013\/02\/14\/mix-tape-o-love-for-my-hubby\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"> Mix Tape O\u2019 Love for my hubs<\/a><br>\n<a title=\"Battle\u2013Ready: Waging Peace for Syria\" href=\"https:\/\/oshetablogs.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/02\/battle-ready-waging-peace-for-syria\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"> When we Waged Peace for Syria<\/a><br>\nand many more.<\/p>\n<p>So, how about we try to carve out some time to savor the Lord, through reflecting on the songs we sang during the musical worship portion on Sundays?<\/p>\n<p>I know, fun, right?\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait.\u00a0 What will make these posts even more fun is if you share in the comments the music that moved you over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s song is one of my favorite worship songs ever, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DtPg00Zb8z4#t=15\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cForever Reign\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DtPg00Zb8z4\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DtPg00Zb8z4<\/a>\nWhen the New City Church worship band played the first bar of this song, tears filled my eyes.\u00a0<strong> Through the first verse, the Holy Spirit remind me that yes, I am seen and no, I am not alone.<\/strong>\n<p>Last week was tense and full of questions like:<\/p>\n<p><em>Should I work outside the house now that we\u2019re semi-settled in LA? What, if any, small group should I join? Where\u2019s the blog going? Does God want me to keep advocating for the Noonday artisans? How do I help my oldest pick good friends?\u00a0 Will my daughter ever stop throwing dive scale tantrums?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While my family is settling in seemingly well, I\u2019ve been restless.<\/p>\n<p>After a week of holding anxious prayers in my heart and wrestling with big questions,\u00a0 I was forced to stop and recognize my limitations when a stomach bug hit me last Thursday.\u00a0 Maybe it was the extended time resting or\u00a0 maybe it was the utter sense of helplessness (my husband had to leave work early to come take care of me)\u00a0 but I recognized a closeness to Jesus that I haven\u2019t since we moved to LA.\u00a0 I also had a clarity to all my fretting that was a gift in the hazy fog of nausea.\u00a0 <strong>Lying in bed, I just wanted one thing:\u00a0 to be whole.<\/strong>\u00a0 Not necessarily complete answers to the all my questions.\u00a0 Not resolution for all the stressors. Not, even a promise that things will work out (in my favor).\u00a0 Nothing but wholeness.\u00a0 I simply didn\u2019t want to be broken anymore. I wanted a healed, whole, and ready body.\u00a0 I wonder if there\u2019s a glimmer of our collective calling there- when we\u2019re not sure what to do,\u00a0 we should focus on seeking wholeness wherever we find ourselves, in whatever circumstance, in every season.\u00a0 <strong>Maybe the \u201cmeta\u201d answer to all the questions is to seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Huh\u2026kinda sounds like wisdom from Heaven, right?<\/p>\n<p>On my sick bed, I decided that the \u201canswers\u201d I wanted were important, yes, but if I could filter them all through the loving hands of Jesus, then maybe the answers would, as one hymn puts it, <a href=\"http:\/\/library.timelesstruths.org\/music\/Turn_Your_Eyes_upon_Jesus\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">grow strangely dim in the light of this glory and grace.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0 Running to His arms, I would find peace in Jesus.\u00a0 I would find love in Jesus.\u00a0 I would find creativity and goodness, and life and riches, and a home. He is our\u00a0 place to run when we\u2019re scared; He is always ready to keep us safe.\u00a0\u00a0<strong> It\u2019s this King of love, whose faithful, even when we\u2019re not, who will Forever Reign<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>I find it so fascinating when the songwriters, Reuben Morgan and Jason Ingram were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.praisecharts.com\/behind-the-song-an-interview-about-forever-reign\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">asked if there was a Bible verse that inspired the song, they quoted<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFor this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height\u2014-to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.\u201d Ephesians 3:14-19<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There\u2019s something about this song that makes me want to kneel, every single time.
