\nToday\u2019s \u201cSing it on Sunday, Live it On Monday\u201d is a little different. One Monday a month, I write for SheLoves Magazine and today\u2019s post \u201cI Chose the Shorts\u201d is a perfect reflection for my new favorite song, \u201cFreedom Song\u201d on Christy Nockels new worship album,\u00a0 \u201cLet It Be Jesus\u201d.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t have this album, get it now!\u00a0 It\u2019s on iTunes for $10<\/a> -a total steal given the number of times this will be on repeat on your iPod.<\/p>\n<\/iframe>\n I love these lyrics of \u201cFreedom Song\u201d :<\/strong> \n You turn my mourning into dancing, lifted my sorrow, joy filled my soul!<\/em> \nI used to dance, but never felt beautiful or thin enough for that world, so I began to hide my body.\u00a0 Today, I share that store with the <a href=\"http:\/\/shelovesmagazine.com\/2015\/i-chose-the-shorts\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">SheLovies:<\/a>\n<blockquote>Everyone was too thin. All the dancers with their swan-like necks and perfect buns\u2014they were all too thin. My instructors, too. Women with perfect arms, strong cores, long muscles\u2014bodies hardened by years of dance.<\/em> \n I was too wide. I could tell when the ballet instructor put her hands on my hips and said, \u201cMaybe you\u2019d be more suited for modern dance.\u201d But this was my major. I was passionate about telling stories with my body and teaching girls dignity with theirs. I wanted to prove my ballet teacher wrong, so I spent hours in the studio perfecting my technique, all the while hating my curves and my too big feet.
