Happy New Year, my friends!<\/p>\n

So funny story:<\/p>\n

When I came across this quote for my 2016 OneWord365,\u00a0 I was munching tortilla chips from Homeboy Industries<\/a>, listening to M.I.A, and sipping on a hazelnut latte.<\/p>\n

I was doing that subtle rib cage, shoulder shimmy you do when you\u2019re in public and wanna dance, but DO NOT want to\u00a0freak out the person right next to you. The truth is, it was probably the most content I\u2019ve been since my kids came home for Christmas. I was full on delighting in my life. Which is good since I\u2019m spending 2016 recreating as many moments as that as possible.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m choosing to delight in 2016.<\/h3>\n

My word came to me a few weeks ago, when I was praying for a friend going through a terrible break-up. \u00a0I asked Jesus to do something I\u2019ve asked him to do for so many friends over the years, \u201cLord, delight her today.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I always pray this for my friends because I believe God loves to delight his children. I think it pleases him when we belly laugh and smile when something cool happens. Just like I love surprising my kids my pulling\u00a0into McDonalds after a particularly stressful shopping trip or leaving little treats on their beds, of my favorite- lunch box notes. \u00a0These little delight remind them how precious they are to me. \u00a0How much more would an all loving, perfect Father want to remind me how precious I am to him?<\/p>\n

This is what I want to notice this year.<\/h3>\n

God\u2019s pleasure over me and his provision every single day.<\/strong> These are altars of joy in my life.\u00a0 In both the daily delights, the things Father Boyle says are right in from of me,\u00a0 like good music, yummy snacks, and naps and the more elaborate ones like celebrations, dinners, day trips.<\/p>\n

I started with compiling all my favorite things<\/a> here on the blog, but I\u2019ve also downloaded the List App to help me list, in real time, \u00a0everything that delights me this year because as nerdy as it may be, \u00a0lists are another daily delight for me. \u00a0(True story: I got a planner for Christmas and the first thing I noticed was the spot at the top of the page for thee projects per day.\u00a0 There\u2019s a whole section of my planner devoted to list making- oh joy and oh glory be!)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the first ten things on my delight list:<\/h3>\n

I delight in:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1: Celebrating friends\u2019 for any reason, really- birthdays, job promotions, getting babies to sleep through the night, all of it<\/p>\n

2: Making beautiful things for my home<\/p>\n

3: Having people over<\/p>\n

4: Playing with my dog, Fenway<\/p>\n

5: Lots of throw pillows around me when I read<\/p>\n

6: Date nights with my husband<\/p>\n

7: Dancing with my kids after dinner<\/p>\n

8: Learning something new<\/p>\n

9: Laughing.\u00a0 Hard.<\/p>\n

10: Hugs.<\/p>\n

and of course, making lots of lists.<\/p>\n

I hope you join me in my Year of Delight.<\/p>\n

The first time I do one of the above delights, I\u2019m going to write about it until each item has a corresponding blog post. Then I\u2019ll write a post listing another ten until this year I\u2019ve had 1000 delights.\u00a0 That\u2019s roughly three delights a day.<\/strong> Which is kinda awesome: one for breakfast, one at lunch, and one at dinner time.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll also write about cool quotes on delight and on the podcast, I\u2019ll ask my guests to share their delights, too.\u00a0 Hopefully this year, you\u2019ll find your delight too.<\/p>\n
